Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back after the Christmas break.  We hope you had a wonderful time, and thank you for all the lovely cards & presents the staff received. A warm welcome to all those joining us this term.

Our topic for this term is Music. All of us will be looking to learn or revisit new songs & rhythms, sing using sign along & making musical instruments out of lots of different & interesting materials & junk. (I think this might be a noisy term) We will also be learning about and celebrating the Chinese New Year, Year of the Pig, Pancake Day, Australia Day & St Valentine's Day. The front & back gardens will still be used for digging, planting and hunting mini beasts, so please send your child to Playgroup in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty & also footwear/coats that are water proof & warm for all this cold weather we are due to be having.

Our 'WOW' board is now filling up with all those milestone awards, certificates & photos (we would still like to see more). This board is for you to share any achievements made outside of Playgroup, favourite pets or people, not just of the children, but anyone in the family.  If you have a certificate or a picture you would like to share, we would love to put it on display. We are also going to set up a “Hello Kylie” area on the board to keep everyone up to date with how Kylie is doing. On that front Kylie finally got the go a head to move to the brain injury unit in Bristol on the Friday before Christmas. She has settled in well & is receiving all the specialist help that she needs to recover from the stroke.  Nicola & myself visited her during the Christmas break & were thrilled to hear that she is able to walk a little without her stick.

This term we are introducing a book lending basket (what's that I hear you ask?). We will have a basket of books in the entrance hall on the petrol pump at drop off time & on the tables with the lunch boxes at pick up time. You & your children are welcome to look through them & choose one to take home to read & share. Then when you are finished with it return it & choose another. You do not need to let us know that you have a book. We will change/add to them on a regular basis. Please ask if there is a particular book/subject your child would like & we will see if we can help!

I would like to thank everyone again for their support for the Christmas Bazaar & Nativity Play raffle which raised a further £42. Our next big events will be A Family Quiz in February & the Easter Fayre in March, we will let you know when the dates have been set.

REMINDER

Please note that the decked area where bikes and prams are parked is very slippery at this time of year, as is the path around the side of the schools buildings. We would ask that you walk on the service road.
